It is the belief of Cole Canoe Base and Michigan Crossroads Council that every Scout should have the opportunity to attend summer camp, regardless of personal or family financial resources. In support of that belief, the Michigan Crossroads Council has set up a camping scholarship program to assist Scouts and their families with financial need. Camperships are available to any registered Scout attending any Michigan Crossroads Council Camp.

Michigan Crossroads Council has released the 2016 Campership Application, available HERE . These Camperships can help Scouts attend events which financial difficulties may otherwise prevent. To be eligible, the following guidelines must be met:

  1. Applicants must be registered within the Michigan Crossroads Council and in good standing for at least 30 days prior to completing an application.
  2. Eligibility:
    • Youth attending a Michigan Crossroads Council operated camp (day camp, cub scout resident camp, boy scout resident camp)
    • Official Field Service Council, District, Area, or National Training Conference
    • Field Service Council managed NYLT (National Youth Leader Training)
  3. Applicant must be recommended by his/her Unit Leader (Committee Chair, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, or Advisor) and Parent/Guardian. The application must be signed by both the unit representative and parent/guardian.

A form must be submitted for each individual case. Camperships are not transferable from one person to another once awarded. Camperships will be fully allocated once the Scout attends the first upcoming Summer Camp season.

A scout is Thrifty: A Scout works to pay his own way and help others. Camperships will not exceed 50% of the event fee.

Camperships are awarded based on need by each Field Service Council. The allocation process, and information used in it, is confidential and will not be shared outside of the campership allocations committees.

Remember, this deadline will approach quickly. Do not wait until the last minute to commit to coming to summer camp. Camperships cannot be awarded without a completed application.
